Join me on a journey towards a simple, sustainable and meaningful life. Throughout November we will be exploring each category of the A-Z guide to a simple, sustainable and meaningful life. Today we’re looking at G… Give.
This guide has been written from the point of view of someone living with chronic illness but the topics and concepts discussed are relevant to everyone and anyone.
G is for Give
A simple, sustainable and meaningful life is one in which you are able to do things that fit within your values and that make you happy. Many of us tend to focus on buying things or experiences that affect ourselves individually as a way of making ourselves happy. We’ve already discussed the fact that ‘Enough‘ is important and delegating and decluttering is also good for our journey. Science also tells us that giving makes us happy.
So today, I’m here to tell you to GIVE.
I know many of us, especially those who can’t work due to chronic illness, don’t have much money or energy to give but we can all find something to give.
Personally, I ‘give’ by sharing my story here through my blog. When possible, I give to charities financially or with my time.
Giving can be as simple as sharing a smile with a stranger, or talking to a friend or family member who you haven’t spoken to in a while.
Right now my energy is low and I’m struggling to focus so I’ll leave my ideas here but I’m sure you can think of many other ways to give to your community.
Share your own ideas below. Help me think of other ways to give that fit well with low energy and low finances.
